Description
Summary:A sample of East and West German adolescents who had made career decisions were drawn from data collected in 1991, 1996, and in 1998 for the East only. Focusing on gender typicality of career choice, the level of East and West differences that were awaited in 1991, particularly for female adolescents, was expected to be lower in 1996. Overall, due to ongoing economic and social changes, male adolescents were expected to show increased interest in gender neutral occupations, such as trade and commerce, and female adolescents an increasing concentration into female typical occupational areas, such as health services. This trend was found in the West but not in the East until 1998.
