Description
Summary:The impact of a new industr center on a network of 22 Mexican villages is assessed by Guttman scales of instit'al complexity & of contact with the center. Comparable scales based on data from 1950 &'1,958 provide a baseline, so that trends of change in each village can be described precisely. For 1958-66, increase in complexity is related to contact with the industr center. Further examination reveals that trends of change have not been uniform & continuous. Some villages that grew in complexity during 1950-58 have declined more recently, &vice versa. AA.
