Summary: | Comments on trends & projects noted during a yr's stay in the US during 1958. The following res is briefly discussed: (1) work of F. de Vyver of Duke U on Australian industr relations, (2) leadership & gov of trade unions, (3) what model of democratic processes is appropriate to the circumstances & problems of trade union org, (4) THE WORKER VIEWS HIS UNION by J. Seidman, J. London, B. Karsh & D. Tagliacozzo (U of Chicago Press, 1958) which attempted to discover what being a unionist means to the members of 6 diff unions. It is felt that in general, there appears to have been a trend towards viewing the labor movement & the whole range of industr relations in a broader context. Interest continues strongly in comparative studies of the labor movement in various countries. The great current interest in org theory & res is discussed. E. Weiman. |
