Description
Summary:Middle and upper class women are entering business at a time when their home roles are becoming more complex and time-consuming. Although some husbands are assisting their working wives by taking over a few of the household tasks, there is little evidence that they have, as yet, taken over major home and childcare responsibilities in the three countries studied. Ambitious women are thus faced with many dilemmas in the allotment of their 'free' time at home. This paper makes some comments on their adjustment in three areas that are affected by their working role, namely that of authority, responsibility and personal relations. It is based on interviews with 185 businesswomen in India, Australia and Canada.
