Description
Summary:A sample of 44 of the most-cited criminologists in the US, taken from a list provided by the Center for Studies of Criminlogy & Criminal Law at the U of Pennsylvania, was requested to respond to a number of questions about their views on the state of the discipline & the path of their own careers. There was a 41% response rate. With considerable agreement, Rs reported that they had received personal satisfaction from their chosen field of work. Tey emphasized the need of newcomers to gain control over a particular facet of the subject matter, & criticized the incursion of critical criminology into the area. They found the healthiest developments to be the greater sophistication in technical skills, & the increasing closeness between criminal & general behavioral science work. AA.
