Summary: | Using attribution theory as an approach to human relationships, 9 hypotheses are advanced about how type & similarity of exchanged resources affect the growth of friendship. Questionnaire data from 47 F Swedish nursing students, including responses to 3 vignettes involving resource exchange, are used to test these hypotheses. Rs' expectations about development of friendships bear out many but not all of the hypotheses, & support the need to consider not only quantitative but qualitative aspects of equity. 4 Tables, 3 Figures, 29 References.
