Summary:Three methods are used to examine US magazine research: (1) a content analysis of such research appearing in Journalism Quarterly from 1964 through 1983; (2) a field analysis; & (3) analysis of the questionnaire responses of 40 members of the Assoc for Education in Journalism & Mass Communication who had published articles about magazine research in Journalism Quarterly. A comparison of the findings reveals some weak points in research about magazines. Modified AA
