Summary: | An integrative study of student socioeconomic status (SES), race, & gender, focusing on self-esteem in the school context, was conducted using data derived from the Pennsylvania Educational Quality Assessment Program, 1981-1984. Analyses were conducted at the fifth-, eighth-, & eleventh-grade levels (N = 35,000-50,000 students each year). Replicable differences in self-esteem occurred for student SES & gender. Race differences, in the form of a grade level-by-race interaction, occurred only within low-SES schools. 3 Tables. AA |
