Description
Summary:Various theories about the functions of secrecy in business & the amount of privacy that corporations ought to have are reviewed. Corporate secrecy often makes government regulation or taxation policies ineffective or inequitable. Secrecy can cause conflict between top & middle management. A major emphasis on policies to control corporate secrecy is suggested as a middle ground between the status quo & those who would nationalize or break up large companies. Policy recommendations are presented for uniform accountancy procedures, regulatory procedures, open information on credit & monetary flow, restrictions on professional advertising, control of oligopolies, energy policies, & the monitoring of multinationals. 1 Photograph.
