Summary:Research on social change and the family systems, indicates that subtle changes are taking place within the family system. The purpose of this article is to examine the extent to which modernization is affecting child rearing amongst working mothers in Bendel State, Nigeria. Findings indicate that working mothers have adopted a new culture which they refer to as the "traditional-modern approach" to child rearing.
