Summary: | An evaluation of the impact of the introduction of "no-fault" divorce legislation in Canada on 1 Jan 1986, comparing the postdivorce experiences of 50 custodial mothers & their families in Winnipeg, Manitoba, with those of other divorced individuals, using data obtained during interviews. Discussion includes: postdivorce housing & neighborhood satisfaction; income, assets, & debts; quality of life; & issues surrounding custody, child support, & self-sufficiency. The disposition of the marital home following divorce is shown to be particularly significant in determining the future standard of living of custodial mothers & their families.
