Description
Summary:The goal of this special issue of Children and Youth Services Review is to examine this progress and introduce readers to new analytical approaches involving spatially referenced methods and theory. The contributions examine how neighborhood structures and processes affect children and youth outcomes using statistical models that assess large-scale spatial heterogeneity and small-scale spatial dependence. These articles begin to identify how environment relates to children as well as some of the specific mechanisms that connect environmental factors and child well-being. In this concluding essay, we briefly review their key findings and relate them to strategies that social workers and allied professionals can use to understand and improve the environments in which children and their families live.
