Summary:Using data from a representative sample of Canadians aged 45 years and older, this paper examines the influence of family and work-force characteristics on the personal incomes of women and men in varying age categories. The analysis assesses whether the income disadvantage women experience relative to men is consistent across age groups and whether the factors associated with income vary by age group and gender. The findings demonstrate that the factors associated with income differ depending on both gender and age with men's earnings substantially higher than women's within and across age groups. /// A l'aide des données d'un échantillon représentatif de canadiens âgés de 45 ans et plus, ce travail examine l'influence des caractéristiques de la famille et de la population active en fonction du revenu personnel des femmes et des hommes d'âges divers. Cette analyse évalue si les désavantages salariaux des femmes par rapport aux salaires des hommes sont consistants à travers les groupes d'âges et si les facteurs associés au revenu varient par groupe d'âges et par sexe. Les constations démontrent que les facteurs associés au revenu diffèrent à la fois selon le sexe et l'âge des hommes qui gagnent un salaire considérablement plus élevé que les femmes à l'intérieur et à travers des groupes d'âges.
