Summary: | It has now been 10 years since the AFL-CIO's Committee on the Evolution of Work recommended the development of research and other capabilities needed to mount an effective corporate campaign. It is now clear that some departments of the AFL-CIO, most notably the Industrial Union Department and the Food and Allied Service Trades Department, have taken that recommendation seriously. So too have a number of AFL-CIO affiliated unions, most notably the Service Employees, Steelworkers, and Teamsters. As a result, the corporate campaign has become an integral part of labor's arsenal of weapons for use in confrontations with management in a substantial and growing segment of the US economy. |
