Summary: | The Circumplex Model of family functioning describes levels of cohesion & flexibility within a family. This information illustrates current family dynamics & specifies the direction & magnitude of change desired in the family's structure & emotional bonding. Individual psychological type describes innate preferences that influence the behavior of each family member. The preferred functions, lifestyle & attitude of each member combine to influence the relational dynamics of cohesion & flexibility & the quality & style of communication experienced. The active interface between individual psychological type & family type can illuminate the reciprocal influence between these individual & family descriptors. A case study is used to describe the clinical application in enhancing treatment effectiveness. 2 Figures, 33 References. Adapted from the source document. |
