Description
Summary:The evolution of the concepts of coalitions & networks is examined, noting that game theory was a founding idea in the former, but not the latter. A theoretical foundation for social networks is proposed in which they are considered as systems, vs as hierarchies. Differences among the various forms taken by networks & hierarchies are considered, attempting to determine whether coalitions take a network, quasi-network, hierarchy, or quasi-hierarchy form, & it is concluded that they are more like networks. The characteristics of coalitions are also outlined, noting how they are distinct from other types of alliances. 30 References. Adapted from the source document.
