Summary: | Parental appraisals of the quality of their children's sibling relationships, and their standards for sibling relationships, were assessed from 114 parents from 57 intact two-child families. Whereas parents reported being most concerned about Agonism and Rivalry/Competition between their children, the largest discrepancies between parental standards and observations were for behaviors reflecting Warmth. Results support the development of intervention programs that facilitate prosocial sibling behaviors as well as the reduction of conflict and rivalry. |
