Summary: | Reflections are offered on the theme of a 1995 forum at the European University Instit in Florence, Italy -- the gendered distribution of resources over time. The forum's objective was to study responses of different European states to the decline of traditional models of family & the welfare state. Different perspectives of academics & politicians to a more equal distribution of time are noted, especially in the case of women who both work outside the home & shoulder the majority of domestic responsibilities. Other topics discussed were time pressures on adolescent & older single mothers, pensions, & union resistance to redistributing working time to allow more flexibility for women with families. 23 References.
