Summary: | The renewal of francophone economic sociology is characterized by three primary currents that group various studies into relatively coherent groups: (1) the antiutilitarianist social sciences movement with its focus on antieconomism & normativity; (2) an approach centering on a civil, unified, pluralistic economy; & (3) an approach based on institutionalism, regulation, & convention. Summaries of these currents are argued to succeed in identifying the principal attempts at renewing the existing theoretical approaches. Comparisons are drawn between franco- & anglophone trends, noting the influence of the neoclassical paradigm on French research. The diverse approaches may contribute to the emergence of a new analytical economic paradigm that follows from the paradigmatic unbalancing occurring in the social sciences in general. 113 References.
