Description
Summary:An empirical analysis of science-industry co-operation in Croatia was undertaken to identify: the intensity of co-operation between industry and various types of research organisations; the nature of this co-operation; and the main motives and obstacles as perceived by R&D institutions. The analysis confirmed that science-industry co-operation in Croatia is weak and that there are serious obstacles on both sides: industry demonstrated a lack of interest in using R&D results and investing in the R&D sector, while the R&D sector suffers from a lack of knowledge and incentives to meet industrial needs. Having in mind the role of R&D in modern economies, the role of the government in Croatia is to create the appropriate environment and incentives for more efficient science—industry co-operation.
