description The role of transport in Third World Ru economic development is explored through a case study of a transport improvement program of the Indonesian government. In 1974, a Ru Works Program was instituted, which sponsored a large number of projects, comprising mostly feeder roads & irrigation canals. During 1978, the impact of these projects was examined through an evaluation survey of 36 feeder roads. The program appears to have the capability of generating considerable Ru change, improving income levels, nutrition, & health. 1 Table, 1 Figure. W. H. Stoddard.
