Summary: | One component of a treatment program for child molesters that attempts to enhance intimacy skills & reduce feelings of loneliness by focusing on motivation, sexual relations, jealousy, & relationship skills is described, drawing on scale data comparisons of the pre- & posttreatment intimacy skills & feelings of loneliness for 32 nonfamilial male child molesters, ages 24-53, who were incarcerated in a Canadian penitentiary & who volunteered for the Bath Instit Sex Offenders' Program. Significantly enhanced intimacy skills & significantly reduced feelings of loneliness were reported posttreatment. Correlational analysis revealed no relationship between treatment changes & client's age, socioeconomic status, or offense history variables. It is argued that the results justify a more thorough evaluation of the efficacy of this treatment component. 1 Table, 40 References. Adapted from the source document. |
