Description
Summary:Objective definitions of well-being generally fall into two broad categories: (1) resource-related definitions; & (2) consumption-related definitions. Consumption-related definitions of well-being are more accepted & more frequently used to cope with changes in transitory components of income & are subject to underreporting of income biases. The relationship between consumption & well-being is discussed. Subjective definitions of well-being include domains of satisfaction ranging from health to housing, models of well-being vs ill-being, social & economic change, & causal-level determinants of well-being. Implications for the measurement of well-being are discussed. 41 References. Adapted from the source document.
