Description
Summary:How family composition affects provision of help to older parents is examined, based on a subsample from the Canadian Aging & Research Network Work & Family Survey of 1,015 employed Canadians who provide at least one hour of help weekly. Specific focus is on the effects on (1) number of hours of help provided; (2) likelihood of being the sole provider of help; & (3) likelihood of being the primary helper. Family composition variables include provider gender & marital status, number of brothers & sisters, number of children, & gender of parent. Findings show a significant impact of number of sisters, & of brothers, & gender in interaction with marital status & number of siblings. 7 Tables, 42 References. Adapted from the source document.
