Summary: | Uses a modified version of the model proposed by R. Andersen (1968) to predict perceived service need, awareness, & utilization among the elderly. Regression analysis of interview data from 722 respondents ages 60+ in St. Louis, MO, indicates that variables in the model explained a much larger % of the variance of service utilization than either perceived service need or service awareness. Most of the variance of service utilization was explained by greater need, greater service awareness, & 3 predisposing variables (being a woman, African American, &/or unmarried). 4 Tables, 29 References.
