Summary: | Describes a worksite health promotion program on cardiovasuclar risk factor reduction that has 12 modules in 3 basic categories: (1) risk factor screening, including blood pressure, cholesterol, weight, & physical fitness; (2) health promotion, including smoking cessation, nutritional counseling, weight management, physical fitness, & stress management; & (3) healthy work environment, including nonsmoking areas, healthy cafeteria menu, & exercise facilities. Evaluation after a 3-year pilot phase of the program conducted in 10 German companies with about 20,000 employees reveals that 54%-67% of employees participated in screening & that 66% of participants reported changes in health behavior, including a 10% reduction in blood pressure & cholesterol levels. 5 Figures, 16 References.
