Summary: | The International Anthropology & Oral History Conference in Bologna in 1976 was considered the first conference in the field of oral history. After this conference, the predominance of English in research & Anglo-Saxon leadership resulted in a split between anthropology & oral historians, & it was recognized in 1988 that Latin American voices were marginalized. It was not until 1996 with the founding of the International Association of Oral History that the discipline had international integration. The 2008 conference will be in Mexico. M. Pflum |
