Summary:Guillain-Barre syndrome (GBS) is a demyelinating disease that affects both adults and children. Early recognition of GBS is critical because the syndrome can be life-threatening when there is respiratory involvement. In children diagnosed with GBS, bowel and bladder disturbances are uncommon manifestations of the autonomic dysfunction, occurring only 14% of the time.
