Description
Summary:If families are carefully selected and appropriately trained, intravenous antibiotics administered at home can be as effective as when they are given in hospital. 1 2 Home intravenous antibiotics also have the advantage of reducing disruption to patient's lives, limiting the opportunities for cross-infection and reducing cost. 3 4 We were interested to discover whether the home intravenous antibiotic service available to children with CF varied from one centre to another. Acknowledgement: The authors wish to thank the CF nurse specialists who took time out of their busy schedules to respond to the questionnaire, enabling data to be collected from all 30 CF centres we approached.
