Summary:If families are carefully selected and appropriately trained, intravenous antibiotics administered at home can be as effective as when they are given in hospital. 1 2 Home intravenous antibiotics also have the advantage of reducing disruption to patient's lives, limiting the opportunities for cross-infection and reducing cost. 3 4 We were interested to discover whether the home intravenous antibiotic service available to children with CF varied from one centre to another.
