Summary: | Launched at the World Health Assembly in 2003, with initial funding from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, FIND works closely with WHO and other public-sector agencies to fulfil its mission to accelerate the development, assessment, and appropriate use of high-quality yet affordable diagnostic methods for infectious diseases in developing countries. Results from trials of tuberculosis serology tests indicate the degree to which performance data provided by the manufacturer can be misleading.9 A Diagnostics Evaluation Expert Panel, convened by WHO/TDR and FIND, is developing guidelines for the performance of diagnostic trials for tuberculosis and other diseases that are intended to establish quality standards for clinical testing. |
