Description
Summary:Aortic stenosis (AS) is a common disease especially in the older population. It is associated with high mortality and morbidity. Recent data suggest that coronary artery disease and AS share common risk factors. Retrospective studies suggest that statins might slow the progression of AS but there are no randomized clinical trial data available. It would seem that statins can be considered for medical treatment of AS; however, this needs to be investigated in future randomized clinical trials.
