Summary:Results from the Early Treatment Diabetic Retinopathy Study show that eyes with clinically significant macular edema benefit from focal argon laser photocoagulation; however, eyes with diffuse macular edema carry a particularly poor prognosis despite laser photocoagulation.6 In the present study, the proportion of eyes with BRVO was only 10% and the proportion of focal edema in the diabetic macular edema group was not reported.
