Summary: | Thyroid fine needle aspiration is a very common procedure used to assess thyroid nodules; complications from this procedure are rare. We report an unusual case of a large hematoma of the neck caused by thyroid fine needle aspiration that caused airway compromise. The hematoma was successfully drained via a transcervical approach. In this case report, we also review the literature for the complication rate of this ubiquitous procedure. |
