Summary: | The epidemic of obesity and the introduction of laparoscopic techniques have greatly increased the popularity of bariatric operations such as Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGBP). Acquired diverticular disease of the small bowel is a rare condition that becomes symptomatic in about 10% of the cases. We report a 48-year-old morbidly obese woman who presented 2 months after laparoscopic RYGBP with a perforated diverticulum of the Roux loop. The diagnostic and therapeutic implications are discussed. |
