Summary:Primary hydatid disease of the pancreas is rare. The authors report a 3-year-old girl who had a cystic mass in the head of the pancreas with no other viscera involved. At laparatomy the entire endocyst was totally extracted from the surrounding pancreatic parenchyma. The postoperative course was uneventful. She is currently disease-free with a follow-up of 5 years. Only four other pediatric cases have been reported in the English literature.
