Summary: | Cardiff and Vale present a case study of a 40-year-old primigravida, who experience hydatidiform mole co-existing with a healthy co-twin. She was diagnosed to be carrying a twin pregnancy at her 11 week booking scan. While one twin was apparently healthy, the other was found to be a hydatidiform mole. She was given the choice of continuing with the pregnancy or opting for a termination of pregnancy, based on the risks the pregnancy would pose to her health. An informed choice was made by the patient to continue with the pregnancy. Because the patient experience a significant viginal bleed, which was followed by a larger bleed of approximately 1,500 ml from the risk of her pregnancy, a decision was made to perform a hysterotomy in order to evacuate the uterus. |
