Summary:To report the rapid regression of extensive retinovitreal neovascularization following the administration of a single dose of intravitreal bevacizumab. A 60-year-old woman presented with recurrent vitreous hemorrhage originating from active retinovitreal neovascularization secondary to branch retinal vein occlusion. The neovascular tissue remained active despite multiple sessions of laser therapy. Intravitreal injection of 1.25 mg bevacizumab was performed. Rapid regression of the retinovitreal neovascularization, a marked reduction in retinal vein engorgement, and visual improvement was observed 1 week after the intervention Intravitreal bevacizumab can result in the rapid and dramatic regression of retinovitreal neovascularization refractory to previous laser photocoagulation.
