Description
Summary:Abdominoscrotal hydrocele is a very rare anomaly. Although various theories about this condition have been proposed, controversy still continues on the etiology of this lesion. The authors present two consecutive cases of abdominoscrotal hydrocele in infancy. On their first examination, these patients only had inguinoscrotal hydroceles. After a 2-month period of observation, these inguinoscrotal hydroceles developed into abdominoscrotal hydroceles. These findings also were confirmed by ultrasonography. The authors question the currently proposed theories of abdominoscrotal hydrocele development. J Pediatr Surg 36:1082-1084. Copyright © 2001 by W.B. Saunders Company.
