Summary:The changes to the current version of the Helsinki Declaration have led to fierce debate, particularly in the pharmaceutical industry and among drug regulators. The new version requires much greater openness: it requires that information about sources of funding or potential conflicts of interests be disclosed to IRBs and to subjects, that the design of all studies be publicly available and that the results of all studies be published or otherwise made publicly available, whatever the findings.
