Description
Summary:Recently, studies have shown that non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors, such as efavirenz or nevirapine, in combination with two nucleoside analogues have an antiretroviral potency comparable to protease inhibitor containing regimens. Triple combination therapy that includes a non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor can therefore be regarded as an effective alternative first-line treatment of HIV-1 infection.
