Summary:Imaging-guided biopsy of hepatic masses has become the standard for diagnosis. This article reviews the computed tomography, ultrasound, and magnetic resonance imaging characteristics of the more common benign and malignant hepatic masses. This is followed by a description of the procedure from preprocedure work-up to postprocedure care, with a discusion of indications, contraindications, complications, and technique.
