Description
Summary:Solitary echinococcal cysts of the seminal vesicles are very uncommon. The use of ultrasonography, computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging aids considerably in the differential diagnosis. Surgical removal of pelvic echinococcal cysts should be performed with great caution to avoid accidental puncture and parasite spillage in the retroperitoneal space. We report on a case of a male patient presenting with urinary retention owing to a large hydatid cyst of the seminal vesicles. The literature regarding this rare clinical entity is also reviewed.
