Summary:This article is written with ordinary nurses in mind. It clarifies many points relating to research and hopefully demystifies research as a subject. As stated above it is often suggested that nurses immediately meet the word 'research' with resistance or even fear. Perhaps it is better to think not of research but of finding out something important to nursing. Research is nothing more than simple enquiry. Taking this a step further, enquiry could be likened to a problem-solving model very similar to the one used as part of the nursing process.
