Glowing Avalanches: New Research on Volcanic Density Currents

Volcanic density currents are denser-than-air mixtures of vapor and volcanic particles that flow down the sides of a volcano during an eruption. Researchers are re-examining the mobility and deposits of volcanic gravity flows.
