Summary:Abstract Kidney transplantation is the treatment of choice for those affected by end-stage renal disease. Consent for organ donation continues to be one of the greatest challenges to transplanting more patients waiting for a life-saving transplant. In an attempt to increase the donor pool for patients on kidney transplant waiting lists, transplant surgeons and physicians have expanded their acceptance criteria to include expanded criteria donors, donation after cardiac death donors, as well as those donors who present unique technical challenges to organ recovery. Here we report a successful kidney transplant from a kidney donor who died from cardiac causes and who previously underwent an ileal conduit for a neurogenic urinary bladder secondary to a spinal cord injury.
