Summary:We surveyed resident physicians of 11 primary care programs regarding the management of upper respiratory infections and antibiotic resistance. Although they viewed excess antibiotic use as the most important factor increasing resistance, they had little knowledge regarding antimicrobial resistance and were willing to prescribe antibiotics for common viral illnesses.
