Summary: | A newly introduced radionuclide for myocardial imaging, 201T1, was studied for diagnosis of ischemic heart disease (IHD) . Five normals and 30 patients consisting of 18 with old myocardial infarction, 3 with acute myocardial infarction, and 9 with angina pectoris who had no history of myocardial infarction were selected for this study. Two mCi 201T1 as thallous chloride in saline solution were injected from antecubital vein as a bolous, and its rapid transport phase during initial three minutes were recorded by scintillation camera and stored into VTR to be analyzed further. Five normals and 11 patients with IHD were reexamined two weeks later with exercise loading by bycicle ergometer. Fractional myocardial blood flow to cardiac output (MBF/CO) was calculated by indicator fractionation principle using the recording of the rapid transport phase. An infarcted area of the myocardium in myocardial infarction was compatible with electrocardiographic findings, and in all cases with angina pectoris, resting myocardial scintigrams show no abnormal findings. Defects of ischemic area became clearly visualized with exercise loading in 3 cases of 11 IHD. MBF/CO was significantly increased (p |
