Evaluating the performance of an edge detection algorithm for use in radioisotope imaging

The criteria are presented for establishing how an edge detection algorithm (EDA) will respond under a variety of imaging situations. Several parameters have been defined to allow comparison of the processed image under varying conditions of count density, target to background ratio, depth of organ,...

Description
Summary:The criteria are presented for establishing how an edge detection algorithm (EDA) will respond under a variety of imaging situations. Several parameters have been defined to allow comparison of the processed image under varying conditions of count density, target to background ratio, depth of organ, scatter and intra-image motion. These parameters could also be used for intercomparison of EDAs.
