Summary: | With the emergence of methicillin-resistant strains of Staphylococcus aureus as significant pathogens and the more frequent recognition of serious infections due to Staphylococcus epidermidis , the use of vancomycin has increased. The authors recently observed two patients with neutropenia whose illness had most likely been caused by vancomycin therapy, and wish to reacquaint the physicians in the field of infectious diseases with this uncommon form of drug toxicity. |
