Description
Summary:A study of infants with summer infantile diarrhea, a significant cause of death among Egyptian children, and a group of matched control children was conducted to clarify the etiology and pathology of the disease. The illness probably results from interaction of nutritional, environmental, microbiological and other host factors. This study clearly incriminated the known enteropathogenic bacteria while exonerating the enteric viruses and parasites. Infection by more than one enteropathogenic bacterium was commonly found in the diarrheal group, but not in the control group. Treatment, research methods and results of the study are detailed.
